I Heart Faces--Autumn Beauty Challenge

My friend, Darcy, moved a couple hours away a year or so ago so I don't get to see her very often anymore. I was thrilled when she contacted me to shoot some family pictures for her for Amelia's first birthday. We had a great time enjoying the gorgeous fall light and exploring a park in Denver while we caught up. This is her daughter, Amelia. Isn't she beautiful!

Kim's Kids

It's time to dust off this blog. The poor thing has been so neglected, and I've been busy. Let's get right to it, shall we?

One of my very good friends, Kim, asked me to take pictures of her adorable kids. She has four in all, 3 boys and 1 girl. They really put me through the paces, which made it such an enjoyable session. I can't wait to shoot mom and dad next!

Jody

I've been looking forward to this shoot since we started these boudoir sessions! Jody is one of the funniest women I know, so this was bound to be a hilarious shoot. I was so not disappointed! Unfortunately, I didn't get many "web appropriate" shots, so I had to do some cropping of a reject to get a second preview image.

Amanda

Amanda was so fun to shoot! She's 20 weeks pregnant, but you'd never know it by looking at her. She just looks like she might be a little bloated, or ate too much at lunch. I'd kill to look that good now, and I'm not even pregnant! She also has gorgeous 9 year-old twin girls. My twins were definitely much tougher on my body than hers were!

She told us she feels awkward when she doesn't smile in pictures, so we let her smile away. The smiling ones were definitely our favorites! She has such a "girl next door" quality about her. I can't wait to hear her husband's reaction to these shots! We've had to be very secretive on Facebook since he works on his laptop all day.

About Me

Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a child. Whether it was film or video, I could be found behind the lens most often while growing up. This passion lay dormant for many years, until the birth of my first daughter. My obsessive need to capture every moment of her young life reignited my love affair with photography. The more I learned, the more frustrated I became with the limitations of my little point-and-shoot.

I began shooting with a dSLR in 2007, and it changed my life! That was the best Christmas gift ever! After a couple years shooting my children, I decided to branch out into professional photography. It only took me 30 years to finally find the career path for me! Thanks to the encouragement and support from friends and family, Brandi B. Photography was born. Join me in my new adventure, and let's learn the ins-and-outs of this business together as we go.

If you live in the Colorado Springs area, and would like more information about booking a photo shoot with me, please contact me at brandibphotography@gmail.com. Thank you so much for stopping by! I look forward to hearing from you soon!

They're Here!

My moo cards arrived yesterday! They are so pretty, I'm going to have a difficult time parting with them! Apparently, there was an issue with the original printing so they emailed me right away to let me know. Not only are they reprinting them, but they went ahead and overnighted what they've already printed to get me started. I'll get 200 cards and 2 cardholders instead of just the one! I received the original order yesterday, and the new one got shipped today. There were a handful of cards with a tiny line running through them, but that was the extent of the error. It wouldn't have been an issue for me at all. What fantastic customer service!

Kim

Yet another Kim! I have 4 friends named, Kim, so don't be surprised to see a couple more! This Kim is 7 months pregnant! She requested we cover the belly for her boudoir shots, so I tried to angle her in ways it wouldn't show. She's so tiny it was really easy to do!

Moo

I ordered my first-ever business cards yesterday! I'm so excited to get them! I ordered moo mini cards with 25 different images, so I'll get 4 of each image. Now I won't have to search for scratch paper to write down my email when I'm asked! And I love that they'll get to see a (very small) sample of my work on the front of the card.

I also delivered the first 2 cds to very happy clients today! For some reason, I was really nervous finishing them and delivering them even though they've already seen a few of their images. It became "real" today.

Finally, I created a zenfolio site for my friends to order prints. All of their galleries are passworded since many of the photos are not suitable for the internet, but I did add a portfolio gallery for public consumption. So far, I've just added images from the boudoir sessions, but I'll add kids/family photos next week.

Val and Kim

Kimberly, who has been doing everyone's makeup for the boudoir shoots, wanted some pictures of herself as well. She has been my biggest supporter of taking my love of photography to the next step. Her photos turned out amazing!! I can't wait to start editing them! Val is the one who started the boudoir sessions in the first place. She asked me to take some family shots for her, which I've yet to do (sorry Val!), but she also mentioned she would love to take some sexy shots of herself to send to her husband in Iraq. We were with some other friends, and most thought this was a great idea and wanted some themselves! And, here we are.

Heather and Melanie

I had the best day yesterday! Three friends had mentioned they'd love to have some "boudoir" type photos of themselves to give to their husbands for Father's Day, but they were uncomfortable going to a stranger to have them taken. One thing led to another and I ended up having my first paid photo shoots yesterday! I'm still flabbergasted that anyone would want to pay me to shoot them!

My friend, Kim, is an amazing professional makeup artist, so she came over and made everyone flawless first. I'm sorry I didn't get more pics of you, Kim! We each had a margarita for a little liquid courage before we got down to business. The shoot itself was so much fun! I must've been running on adrenaline the entire time because I crashed so hard once everyone left! I could've easily taken a nice, long nap, but Cora was up playing with me while my other girls slept.

Most of the pictures are too risque to post online, but I did edit a few G-rated shots last night to give me friends a little teaser. I'm so proud of these shots! They are both incredibly gorgeous women, so it was easy to get some amazing shots of them.

This is Heather. She's still trying to tell me she's not at all photogenic! Whatever Heather!

Melanie was a blast to shoot! She had some terrific ideas and was not the least bit shy.

Welcome

Now that my friends want to hire me to photograph them, I thought it best to start my own photo blog instead of taking over my family blog. I hope to use this as a space to give them a couple "sneak peek" pictures, as well as a place for me to grow and learn.
